The Corporation’s position
Statements on questions put to the Corporation. Each is issued once and is not revised.
-
Statement 1
On the question of monopoly
A.P.E.S. is not a monopoly. A monopoly is a market with one seller. A.P.E.S. is a register with one keeper, which is the only number of keepers a register can have. Provision is made for competition between operators, under Selection.
-
Statement 2
On the question of other registers
There are no other registers. Before the Consolidation there were four hundred and eleven, and no operator was on all of them. There is now one, and every operator is.
-
Statement 3
On the question of ownership
Operators ask whether they may own their rig. They may not. Ownership is a liability, and the Corporation has assumed it on the operator’s behalf, at no charge beyond the rental, the fees, the deposit and the damage schedule.
-
Statement 5
On the question of the register
Operators who believe themselves absent from the register are advised that they are not.
-
Statement 6
On the question of employment
Operators are not employees. The Corporation has none. It has a register, and the register has entries.
-
Statement 7
On the question of selection
Selection is perpetual. Non-selection is not a penalty and may not be appealed. A hold on a license is not non-selection and may be: Compliance reads every appeal, and a person answers.
-
Statement 8
On the question of attrition
The Corporation’s actuarial position is fully provisioned. Attrition is priced in.
-
Statement 9
On the question of Tulgaska
The star demolition at Tulgaska, in cycle 2579, was conducted by a private demolition contractor under no license of the Corporation’s. The Corporation does not demolish stars. It harvests them, and a harvested star remains available for harvest.
-
Statement 10
On the question of passwords
The Corporation does not use passwords and does not ask for them. Its staff do not ask for codes. A message that does either is not from the Corporation and is to be reported to Operator Relations.
